Very professional, Brunon took the time to perfect designs and gave great advice for our built in bookshelves. The guys working over the week were very good, took on board all our finishing touches and love the final look!

Bespoke Home Offices Edinburgh
A fitted desk can hide cables beautifully and still leave the router trapped, the power adapters hot and the one connection you need buried behind a drawer.
Sweet Homes builds home-office joinery for Edinburgh homes, planned around the equipment and the room rather than a catalogue desk.

Start with the equipment list
We need to know what will sit on the desk, what stays powered, what needs data, where video calls happen and which equipment must remain reachable. A laptop and one screen ask for something different from two monitors, a desktop tower, printer, speakers and a router.
The fitted work may include a desk, drawers, shelving, closed storage and accessible cable routes. Sockets and lighting can be coordinated through the competent electrician we appoint. The electrical work and certification remain with that trade.
We measure the alcove and wall before fixing the desk depth. Older walls are rarely square. An external wall with existing damp or mould staining needs investigation before joinery closes the view or reduces air movement behind it. Damp work is not sold here as a separate service.
We leave access where equipment, sockets or connections may need attention. The cable routes stay reopenable.
Home-office joinery is built by the same workshop and fitting teams as the rest of our fitted work. Bespoke joinery sets out how a measured design is drawn and priced, fitted wardrobes covers alcove storage built to the same method, and where the office is part of a wider job, the whole-property renovation page explains how joinery is sequenced against the trades that must finish first.
Specify solid copper
Specify solid copper conductors. Copper-clad aluminium is cheaper, it is sold everywhere, and it should never go into a wall. Higher resistance, and a real fire risk at the currents modern powered devices draw through a tight bundle of cable. Where a run has to cross a solid-walled flat, thin radial circuits go through the floor voids rather than notching original joists. Plenty of work still notches them.
What the quotation needs to define
Fitted home-office joinery starts at around £9,000 plus VAT. That entry figure covers a measured desk, drawers and shelving in one alcove or along one wall, with accessible cable routes and the electrical work coordinated through the electrician we appoint. A run spanning several walls, closed storage, heavier equipment provision or a room that needs remedial work first sits above it.
The measured design records the layout, visible materials, finish, hardware, electrical work and installation scope. We mark equipment ventilation and future access on it.
Every home office is priced from that measured design rather than from a standard price list, because the joinery, materials and installation scope differ from room to room. Your written quotation states the full VAT-inclusive figure for the agreed scope before any work is booked.
We can include a home office inside a wider renovation. Whether a small standalone brief fits the current service is confirmed during the initial conversation rather than promised universally here.
Related joinery reviews
Two published bespoke-joinery records from the same workshop and fitting teams that build home-office joinery: built-in bookshelves designed with the client, and storage units built off site and delivered fitted.
Excellent work delivered with minimum of disruption. The storage units were built off site and delivered fitted and painted. The externally sourced wine racks needed a bit of adjustment. Throughout all of the project Brunon and his team were completely professional and a pleasure to work with.

Home office joinery questions
We supply and fit every job. We do not offer labour-only work and we do not offer fit-only work, because one firm owning both the materials and the workmanship gives you one clear line of responsibility. The whole sequence, from first call to handover, is set out on how we work.
How much does a fitted home office cost?
Fitted home-office joinery starts at around £9,000 plus VAT for a measured desk, drawers and shelving in one alcove or along one wall, with accessible cable routes. A run spanning several walls, closed storage, heavier equipment provision or a room needing remedial work first sits above that. Every office is priced from the measured design rather than a standard list.
What do you need to know before designing it?
The equipment. What sits on the desk, what stays powered, what needs data, where video calls happen and which equipment has to stay reachable. A laptop and one screen ask for something quite different from two monitors, a desktop tower, printer, speakers and a router.
Can you do the electrical work?
Sockets and lighting are coordinated through the competent electrician we appoint, and the electrical work and its certification remain with that trade.
Will the cables still be reachable afterwards?
Yes. We leave access where equipment, sockets or connections may need attention later, and the cable routes stay reopenable. A fitted desk that hides cables beautifully and traps the router is the outcome we design against.
How soon can the work start?
We do not book works within four weeks of a first enquiry. That period covers the call, the survey, the written quotation, your decision and the ordering that has to happen before trades arrive. If something needs attention sooner than that, say so on the call and we will point you to the right emergency trade for the immediate problem while the planned work is scheduled properly.
What happens after we enquire?
We reply by email. If the project looks like a fit we ask for the property details, any drawings or approval information and a few photographs, then arrange a twenty-minute call to work through the brief. A site visit follows the call, and the written quotation follows the visit. Send a couple of windows that suit for the call and we will hold the time.
Why do you not offer labour-only work, or fit materials we buy ourselves?
No. We supply and fit every job, whatever its size. We do not offer labour-only work and we do not offer fit-only work. When one firm buys the materials and carries out the work, you have one clear line of responsibility if something goes wrong, rather than an argument between the product and the fitting. If you have already chosen products, send the product codes and we will buy those exact items and include them in the quotation.
