Brunon Rogowski executed the full restoration and refurbishment of this Victorian flat in Edinburgh, for one of our clients. Plumbing, heating and electric services were replaced, walls were replastered and decorated and floors sanded. The existing kitchen and bathroom were entirely renewed and a new en-suite shower room and dressing area were created for the master bedroom. The project ran very smoothly and the final result was perfectly delivered. Brunon and his staff are a pleasure to work with; professional, proactive and caring. I will without hesitation recommend them to my future clients.

Where we work around Glasgow
We take on renovation work in Bothwell, Lenzie, Bearsden and Newton Mearns. Bothwell and Lenzie sit on the Edinburgh side of Glasgow; Bearsden is to the north-west and Newton Mearns to the south. We do not currently take on renovation work in the rest of Glasgow.
Sweet Homes is an Edinburgh contractor, and a job in these suburbs runs the same way as a job in Edinburgh: the same sequence, the same supply-and-fit rule and the same written quotation.
The homes we renovate here
Most homes in these suburbs are established family houses: stone-built Victorian and Edwardian villas, interwar bungalows and later detached and semi-detached houses. They are the same kinds of building we renovate across Edinburgh, with the same questions about original features, older services and how a new layout works with the existing structure.
Each page below explains how we run that kind of project. They are written for Edinburgh homes, and the way we work is the same here.
How a project starts
Send the property details and what you are planning, with any drawings and a few photographs. We reply by email, then arrange a follow-up call to work through the brief. A site visit is agreed afterwards where useful, and the written quotation sets out the agreed work.
For major projects, allow at least four weeks from your first enquiry. Smaller or urgent work may be possible sooner; dates are agreed separately. That time covers the call, the site visit, the written quotation, your decision and the ordering that has to happen before trades arrive. If something needs attention sooner than that, say so on the call and tell us what you need and when so we can discuss whether the work fits our service and availability.
For the full sequence and each party’s responsibilities, see how Sweet Homes works.
Building warrants
Where a job changes the structure or the layout, we tell you at the start whether a building warrant is needed, and no work starts until it is granted. Converting a loft or garage into a room and forming or removing an opening in a load-bearing wall are among the common cases that need one. The warrant is granted by the local council: South Lanarkshire Council for Bothwell, East Dunbartonshire Council for Lenzie and Bearsden, and East Renfrewshire Council for Newton Mearns.
You appoint the architect, structural engineer and building-warrant route where the proposal needs them. Sweet Homes remains the contractor: we read that information and price the work it describes.
Our plain guide to building warrants explains which work needs one and the order things happen in. The building regulations are the same across Scotland.
We supply and fit, never labour only
We supply and fit every job, whatever its size. We do not offer labour-only work and we do not offer fit-only work. When one firm buys the materials and carries out the work, you have one clear line of responsibility if something goes wrong, rather than an argument between the product and the fitting. If you have already chosen products, send the product codes and we will check availability and suitability before confirming the products in the quotation.
We are members of Edinburgh Trusted Trader and the Federation of Master Builders, and every job is covered by our workmanship warranty and aftercare.
Renovation reviews
Two published records of renovations we have completed.
Lathe and plaster ceiling brought down and a new ceiling installed, whilst preserving the original cornicing and centre rose. Brunon and his team completed the work to what I thought was a very high standard. I had been worried about the amount of dust that would be generated by bringing the old plaster down but amazingly very little escaped into the adjacent hall. They used a large extractor fan to take the dust out of my window and also used a plastic seal on the door and together these obviously worked really well. Brunon kept me up to date with detailed daily emails describing the teams progress. And on the first day when he was caught in heavy traffic caused by the trains being cancelled following a storm he phoned twice to give me updates on his eta. I also had a condemned gas fire in my lounge and the team removed this for me, plastered the resulting hole and installed an air vent. All for no extra charge. All in all I was very impressed with the professionalism and quality of workmanship of Brunon and his team and would not hesitate to use him again in the future.

Questions from homeowners around Glasgow
The answers below are the same ones we give on the first call.
Do you cover the rest of Glasgow?
Not at the moment. Around Glasgow we take on renovation work in Bothwell, Lenzie, Bearsden and Newton Mearns. For a property elsewhere in the city that you are thinking of buying, our renovation consultancy covers the Glasgow West End.
How soon can the work start?
For major projects, allow at least four weeks from your first enquiry. Smaller or urgent work may be possible sooner; dates are agreed separately. That period covers the call, the site visit, the written quotation, your decision and the ordering that has to happen before trades arrive. If something needs attention sooner than that, say so on the call and tell us what you need and when so we can discuss whether the work fits our service and availability.
Do I need a building warrant?
Converting a loft or garage into a room, and forming or removing an opening in a load-bearing wall, are among the common cases that need one. Where your job changes the structure or the layout, we tell you at the start whether a warrant is needed. No work starts until the council for your area has granted it.
Will you fit a kitchen or bathroom we have already bought?
No. We supply and fit every job, whatever its size, and we do not offer labour-only or fit-only work. If you have already chosen products, send the product codes and we will check availability and suitability before confirming the products in the quotation.
How much will it cost?
The written quotation follows the call and the site visit, and is based on the measured property and the chosen specification. For early planning, our renovation cost guide sets out indicative bands, written for Edinburgh homes.
Which council handles the building warrant?
South Lanarkshire Council for Bothwell, East Dunbartonshire Council for Lenzie and Bearsden, and East Renfrewshire Council for Newton Mearns. Your architect or warrant professional makes the application; we flag the requirement early and price the approved construction information.
