We routinely renovate single kitchens and bathrooms while clients remain at home. For Sweet Homes, the occupied-home decision depends on any rewiring, extensive plumbing or heating work overlapping with the kitchen.
Service dates
I would mark the sink removal, electrical isolation and any heating shutdown against the same dates. One entry may show the fridge powered on Tuesday while the kitchen sink is removed.
A kettle and microwave in another room may work for one household if they have a safe agreed supply. The fridge still needs a position; Sweet Homes treats an extension lead across the tenement hall as a trip and delivery-route issue.
The contract for that kitchen records any daily water, power or heating commitment. If several services are off together, Sweet Homes may recommend a holiday or another stay over the dates recorded there.
A room kept out of storage
The project contract identifies material-storage and work-zone arrangements for that scope. Before the cabinets arrive, the homeowner can decide which clothes, laptops and kitchen items need to remain accessible. In a compact flat, assembled units may occupy the spare floor before fitting begins.
The room will not be dust-proof. Kitchen work may involve plaster, masonry, timber products or stone. HSE’s construction-dust guidance explains how controls depend on the task and material. HSE advises that stone-worktop cut-outs should be completed in a suitably equipped workplace where possible; its worktop installation guidance covers unavoidable work on site.
The same contract identifies any agreed protection or separation around dusty work. The only available route may still pass beside the work area.
Sweet Homes coordinates the construction trades. Our electrician and gas engineer carry out and certify their own scopes; the client appoints any architect, structural engineer or warrant professional required for the project.
